About the Standards
The AIBS Professional Practice Standards were developed by an Expert Panel of experienced members from across Australia, representing diverse sectors, jurisdictions, and expertise. These Standards aim to:
- Establish a national, best-practice approach to building surveying.
- Recognise the diverse roles of building surveyors in private and public sectors.
- Highlight the life-safety responsibilities of building surveyors in our communities.
- Align professional practices with the AIBS Professional Audit Program to maintain consistent technical knowledge and high standards.
Why Your Feedback Matters
As a valued member of AIBS, your insights are crucial in refining this first edition of the Standards. By participating in this consultation, you’ll help ensure that the Standards:
- Reflect the needs of the profession and community.
- Address gaps or areas needing improvement.
- Build confidence among regulators, insurers, consumers and the wider community.
This consultation is a vital step in advancing our profession to meet the changing needs and emerging risks of the market.
Following the close of consultation, the appointed Panel will review feedback from members and make any changes they deem appropriate. Once the Panel’s final review is completed, the final draft will be sent to the AIBS Board for approval and subsequent publication.
