Your bridge from study to practice

Graduate membership is designed for early-career professionals who’ve completed a recognised building surveying qualification but are not yet accredited. It connects you with mentors, resources, and training that will help you gain the experience needed for AIBS Accreditation and a rewarding career protecting Australia’s built environment. When you’re ready, you can transition to Accredited Membership.

Eligibility and how to apply

If you’ve completed a professional or para-professional qualification in building surveying recognised by AIBS, and you’re not able to become accredited, you’re eligible for Graduate Membership.

Steps:

  1. Check your eligibility – confirm your qualification is AIBS-recognised.
  2. Apply online – complete the simple application form and submit proof of qualification.
  3. Start connecting – access your member dashboard, explore CPD and join upcoming events.

How long can I stay a Graduate Member?

Up to three years, or until you’re eligible to gain AIBS Accreditation.

Do Graduate Members have CPD obligations?

While CPD isn’t mandatory, taking part in training and webinars is strongly encouraged to build your experience and maintain professional currency.

What’s the difference between Graduate and Accredited Membership?

Graduate Members have completed their qualification but haven’t yet met the experience requirements for AIBS Accreditation. Once you do, you can apply to become an Accredited Member.

What happens after Graduate Membership?

When you’ve met the experience requirements, you can apply for Accredited Membership and become a fully qualified building surveyor.

How do I move into Accredited Membership?

When you’ve met the experience requirements under the AIBS National Accreditation Scheme, submit your Accreditation application and supporting documentation for assessment.
