This two-part presentation predominately investigates DTS requirements for fire-complying exposed timber construction (NCC Section C) and concludes with how to identify DTS-complying Engineered Wood Products (NCC Section B).
The NCC Volume 1 has many DTS solutions for fire design that have been there for decades but are often overlooked. Some of these solutions allow exposed timber elements, such as beams, columns and floors.
This presentation looks in detail at the NCC requirements where exposed timber can be used or where a fire-protected timber or performance solution is required. The discussion includes the often overlooked concessions within the NCC that assist timber design and the NCC Section C “support of another part” requirements. In addition, we discuss how engineered wood products comply with Section B of the NCC and more importantly, identifying compliant Engineered Wood Products on the construction site by brands or marks.
