National Technical Manager Appointment

It is with great pleasure that AIBS announce the appointment of Jeremy Turner as the National Technical Manager. Jeremy is the first to be appointed in this newly created role which will further complement the professional team already established in the AIBS office.

Jeremy is an accomplished Level 1 Building Surveyor with a breadth of experience gained over 21 years, with deep technical skill including post graduate qualifications in Engineering. During this time, Jeremy has worked in both the private and local government sectors, in diverse locations from tropical Darwin to temperate coastal regions south of Adelaide, and for almost ten years in Adelaide City.

In addition to his professional role, Jeremy has contributed over 19 years’ service to AIBS as a volunteer through a variety of roles and is currently serving on the National Technical Committee and as a representative of AIBS on a committee of the Australian Building Codes Board.

In accepting the role, Jeremy described the challenges and opportunities ahead: “Throughout my career I have endeavoured to be at the forefront of technical matters, participating where possible in code and regulatory reviews, policy development, contributing to proposals for change and a range of other submissions prepared by AIBS and other organisations. I see the role playing a key part in securing the future success of the AIBS and as an opportunity to put AIBS at the forefront of service delivery to its membership and establish a market leading standard of technical advice and collaborative support for the profession of Building Surveying. I also believe the role is capable of enhancing a wider interest in contributing to the body of knowledge of Building Surveying and being better placed to respond to the need for leadership on technical issues and to be proactive in relation to emerging issues. I look forward to joining the team in the AIBS office and to establishing key strategic relationships with all AIBS stakeholders, especially those representing the membership of AIBS and further contributing to the growth and development of AIBS and the profession of Building Surveying.”

Jeremy commences in his role with AIBS on 10th October 2016.
