Introducing Fire Rescue Victoria

29 June 2020

We have been advised by David Bruce, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Officer of the MFB that the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board (MFB) is to be replaced by Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) effective 1 July 2020.

This new entity will bring together MFB and the CFA’s career fire fighters and will serve metropolitan Melbourne and major regional centres.

A new FRV district will be serviced by the new entity and all organisational and service delivery matters are to be referred to FRV from 1 July 2020.  The CFA will continue to operate as a volunteer fire fighter organisation serving and protecting their communities as they do now.

For more details, please see the following link: Fire Rescue Victoria

The link does not describe the exact boundaries of the FRV district and AIBS is seeking clarity regarding where to direct files for referral and consent and about which firefighting stakeholder should be engaged in relation to performance assessment.  We will advise further as soon as we are able.
