AIBS Governance Review & Elections

As you will no doubt be aware, throughout the course of this year, AIBS has been undertaking a review of our Governance structures.

In February, the process commenced with the release of the ‘AIBS Governance Review Discussion Paper’ from which feedback was sought from the membership.

Following this consultation process, the AIBS Board considered the feedback and deliberated upon the proposed changes contained in the discussion paper at the May Board meeting

Subsequent to these deliberations, the Board then agreed to a number of changes to the Constitution to be put to members at an AIBS General Meeting for the approval of the membership.

This General Meeting was held in Melbourne on 22nd August where all the proposed changes to the Constitution were approved by the members. The minutes of this meeting will be posted in the members area of the AIBS website in the coming week, but in the meantime a copy of the minutes can be obtained by emailing [email protected].

Subsequent to the general meeting, at the Board meeting on 27th August 2016, the Board adopted the revised Constitution effective on this date. This constitution is now published on the AIBS website available here.

Following the Board meeting and the adoption of the revised Constitution, the Board then also adopted the revised version of the AIBS By-Laws. Further to this, a number of policies have also been developed to deliver a more comprehensive governance structure throughout the Organisation.These policies can be found in the Internal Policies area of the AIBS website and are listed as follows;

  • AIBS Governance Policy
  • AIBS Membership Policy
  • AIBS Conduct of Elections Policy
  • AIBS Conference Management Policy
  • AIBS Training Operations Policy

Given the Governance review has been completed, the AIBS has now commenced the election process for the election of Directors for the Board of AIBS and also for Chapter Committee Members of each Chapter.

Nomination forms for the election of both Directors and Chapter Committee members are now available in the Internal Policies area of the AIBS website.  Please note that nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday 28th September 2016. Nomination forms are also available by emailing [email protected].

The process and information for nomination and election can be found in the AIBS Conduct of Elections Policy, the AIBS Constitution and the By-Laws.  Further information can be provided by emailing [email protected] or calling the AIBS Office on 1300 312 427.

A more detailed email relating to the AIBS elections will be sent in the coming week to better inform members, but please be advised that the nomination process has now commenced.

The Board is very appreciative of the individual feedback from members and Chapter Committees during the governance review and look forward to taking AIBS into our next stage of growth and development, along with the continued representation of the profession and members of AIBS.
