AIBS has teamed up with Stephen Kip of SKIP Consulting to provide this webinar event on How to perform well with performance, the new performance-based design brief process – Applying Part A2.2(4) A Worked Example. Stephen is a registered building surveyor and Fire Safety Engineer as well as a Board Member with the ABCB and Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Engineering at Victoria University

This webinar event will guide you through the process of a performance solution using Vol. 1 of the BCA and will provide an example using the light & ventilation verification method to achieve compliance using A2.2(4) as a compliance pathway.  

This worked example will take you through the role of the building surveyor in process of using Part A2.2(4) using the light and ventilation verification method, including;

  • The performance-based design brief
  • Conducting the analysis
  • The assessment methods used for the analysis.
  • How do you evaluate the results and the acceptance criteria.
  • Preparing the final report including the performance requirements and/or Deemed to Satisfy provisions, assessment methods used and confirming that the Performance Requirement has been met.  

This webinar is well suited to building surveyors who are new to developing performance solutions or the experienced building surveyor working on multi-storey residential buildings.

About the Speaker:  Stephen Kip

Stephen Kip has been a Director of SKIP Consulting, an engineering and regulatory consultancy firm for the past 14 years.
Prior to that he has held senior engineering positions with Warrington Fire Research (now Exova Warrington Fire) and the Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ) and was the deputy to the Building Commissioner at the Building Control Commission in Victoria, Australia. He holds a degree in Building and a master’s degree in Engineering and has additional post graduate qualifications in Fire Safety Engineering and Building Project Management. He is a board member of the Australian Building Codes Board, an Adjunct Associate Professor of the academic staff at the School of Engineering at Victoria University, a board member of the Bushfire Building Council of Australia, an Honorary Fellow of the academic staff of the University of Melbourne School of Architecture, and a Fellow of Engineers Australia.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds for registrations should be provided in writing to [email protected] as outlined below and calculated from the first day of training:
 More than 30 days - Full refund
 Between 7 and 30 days - 50% refund
 Less than 7 days - No refund

Participants may transfer their registration to another training session up to one (1) working day prior to the commencement of the training day without loss of funds.

Payment Policy: Payment is required PRIOR to attending the event.
  • All registrations are confirmed upon completion of registration and issue of an invoice
  • Payment terms on all invoices are the earlier of 14 days from the date of invoice, or prior to the first day of the event (where registration is completed and invoice issued less than 14 days from the first day of the event).
  • Payment can be made via credit card through the online portal or by phoning the AIBS office on 1300 312 427 Monday-Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm (AEST)
