Energy Efficiency  vs Condensation, Bushfire & the Code of Practice – Occupational Licensing.
A Building Surveyors Perspective.

NCC Energy Efficiency & Condensation Changes
With the adoption of the NCC 2019 has seen substantial changes to energy efficiency in the Building Code of Australia Vol. 1 & 2.  To assist building surveyors, AIBS have been teamed up with Dr Mark Dewsbury from the University of Tasmania to provide a building surveyors perspective on all thing’s energy efficiency for housing.

Condensation will also be reviewed to provide practitioners with the understanding they need when assessing and conducting inspections, such as;
Pliable building membrane (w cavity)
Exhaust systems
Roof space ventilation

Condensation vs energy efficiency will also be discussed, to determine if they are compatible for buildings in Tasmania.  Dr Dewsbury will provide a detailed analysis on the pitfalls that as a building surveyor, you will need to be aware of, when conducting BCA assessments in Tasmania.

Bushfires & AS3959
Leading up to this year’s bushfire season, TASfire will provide their recent experience with AS3959 and the newly adopted amendments as well as findings from the recent bushfire season and inquiries.

This session will enable building surveyors to gain a detailed understanding of the amendments introduced to AS3959 and the important part building surveyors play in the assessment and approval of buildings in bushfire prone areas.

Occupational Licensing (Building Surveyors) Code of Practice
AIBS have secured Mr Patrick Toomey to present on the implications of the Code of Practice for building surveyors under the Occupational Licensing Act.

Are you compliant with this Code as a practicing building surveyor?  What does this code mean for you?  All these questions and more will be addressed in this presentation specifically designed to make you aware of your obligation.

This session will detail as a building surveyor, what you need to be aware of and understand to ensure you act in accordance with this code.

Mr Toomey was previously the Chair of the Tasmanian Building Appeal Board (8 years) and knows the ins and outs of this Code of Practice and will share his valuable insights.  This is a not to be missed session!
