An AIBS Sharpen your Skills Seminar!

Town Planning Overlays – How to deal with them.

What do you need to understand as a building surveyor assessing and approving buildings that are subjected to planning scheme overlay requirements?

Common overlays include Flood, Bushfire, Transport Noise Corridors and more, but how do you identify if these apply to your application, and if so, what is the compliance process?

This detailed seminar will provide a holistic overview of the use of planning requirements and overlays will be provide a deep dive into the areas of Transport Noise Corridors, Flooding and the like.

The seminar will include a background into common issues and implications for building surveyors when assessing buildings that are subjected to planning overlays. The seminar will also include a practical workshop where attendees can work through these planning issues together.

This training session is aimed at both new entrants who have only a basic knowledge of the Queensland Planning Scheme Overlay provisions and for experienced building surveying professionals who would like a refresher on all things to do with planning overlays.

The seminar will cover the following issues:
Flood, bushfire and other natural hazard overlays
Noise Corridor Implications
Contaminated Soils and other environmental overlays
Material Change Use (MCU) – identifying the correct assessment level for applications
A review of the relevant technical codes applicable to overlays
An opportunity to workshop relevant issues with your building surveying colleagues

The seminar will apply a practical approach that highlights the technical issues for both residential and commercial building applications.
