About the Speakers:

Michael Small

 

Michael Small runs a consultancy business based in Hobart working with people with disability, businesses, government and the building sector to assist in making buildings and services more accessible.

Michael started working with people with disability in England in 1975 and when he came to Australia in 1987 worked in country NSW and then Sydney advocating for the rights of people with intellectual disability.From 1993 to 2011 Michael worked at the Australian Human Rights Commission developing guidelines and standards to improve access to public transport, the internet, education, local government services, banking and the built environment.

Michael worked on the drafting of the Premises Standards as a member of the Building Access Policy Committee and various Standards Australia technical committees and produced a number of resources to assist building professionals implement access requirements.

Michael wrote the Guideline on the Application of the Premises Standards and in 2016 was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study access compliance overseas.

Michael is a member of the Association of Consultants in Access Australia and sits on the Expert Advisory Group responsible for progressing recommendations from the first review of the Premises Standards. 

     

Nigel Grice

 

 

Nigel owns and operates Holdfast Building Surveyors.He has worked in the construction industry for nearly 30 years, ten years as a builder and twenty years as a building surveyor. The company,which employs ten staff, celebrates its tenth birthday in December.

Nigel is also involved in mentoring and cadetship training throughout industry and is a member of numerous state government industry working groups. He was awarded the honour of AIBS Building Surveyor of the Year 2017 for Tasmania.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds for registrations should be provided in writing to [email protected] as outlined below and calculated from the first day of training:
 More than 30 days - Full refund
 Between 7 and 30 days - 50% refund
 Less than 7 days - No refund

Participants may transfer their registration to another training session up to one (1) working day prior to the commencement of the training day without loss of funds.

Payment Policy: Payment is required PRIOR to attending the event.
  • All registrations are confirmed upon completion of registration and issue of an invoice
  • Payment terms on all invoices are the earlier of 14 days from the date of invoice, or prior to the first day of the event (where registration is completed and invoice issued less than 14 days from the first day of the event).
  • Any cancellation of registrations for seminars must be made in writing to [email protected]. A failure to make payment in accordance with the above terms will not be accepted as a valid cancellation.
