Ergonomics, also known as Human Factors (which means “fitting things to people”), draws on scientific data about humans’ true capabilities and limitations. It is often the key to a well-justified Performance Solution, by considering the attributes of users of a facility, when and how they use it, as well as explaining  how people actually see, move, understand and sense their surroundings. It takes into account the breadth of human behaviour, human size, strength, abilities, and limits.  Ergonomics is a powerful tool in developing justified Performance Solutions

In this live 2-hour webinar training, professional engineer and ergonomist Mark Dohrmann and his fellow engineers will provide an overview of how ergonomics reasoning can be used effectively to justify Performance Solutions.

Presentation of case studies will illustrate how this method has been successfully applied.

Participants will also receive a handy guide on how to effectively use expert ergonomics and human engineering in developing Performance Solutions.

About Dohrmann Consulting
Dohrmann Consulting is a Melbourne-based ergonomics and safety consultancy firm that delivers practical and useful risk management advice to organisations in matters of safety, ergonomics, design and usability. Their team of ergonomists and engineers routinely review non-complying building elements – planned or existing – and provide justified Performance Solutions dealing with non-complying stairs, landings, headroom, doors, accessways, fire starts and egress.

About the Speakers

Mark Dohrmann AM is a professional engineer and certified ergonomist with over four decades of practical engineering, ergonomics and safety experience. He has helped organisations throughout Australia and Asia-Pacific to improve their workplace design and risk management. A former lecturer in ergonomics, he has produced many justified Performance Solutions dealing typically with non-complying stairs, landings, headroom, doors, accessways, fire stairs and egress.

John Dimopoulos is a qualified mechanical engineer and safety specialist with extensive experience in the application of engineering and human factors principles, product design, failure analysis and risk control. He regularly provides practical advice to organisations on safety, compliance, and risk assessments, including justified performance solutions advice on numerous areas of the National Construction Code – in particular, access, egress and slip resistance surface compliance.

Ashleigh Schintler, a materials engineer, works closely with our team of senior engineers and ergonomists to deliver safety improvement and compliance solutions. She has worked on many projects involving justified Performance Solutions and advice for stairways, ramps and other pedestrian requirements for the building industry in line with NCC/BCA requirements.
