QLD Chapter | Townsville | Lightweight Wall Construction Practices to achieve BCA Compliance

Hotel Grand Chancellor Townsville | 6 CPD Points |

About this Event - 28 February 2020

Lightweight Construction Practices (Whole of wall construction)

With the added complexities of interpretation emanating from the NCC 2019 along with a range of new light weight wall systems on the market, checking compliance against the NCC and inspecting these systems on site can be challenging and complex. Lightweight wall systems will be in the spotlight for both residential and commercial buildings in this training event. AIBS are partnering with industry experts - CSR, to provide you with the technical assistance to navigate through this increasingly complex area including achieving fire ratings. The implications of Part 3.7.1, Part 3.7.2 and Part 3.7.3 of Vol. 2 and relevant areas of Part C, Vol. 1 of the Building Code including condensation, energy efficiency, weathertightness and structural provisions will be reviewed in these interactive sessions to detail Deemed-to-Satisfy solutions to provide a 'whole of wall' construction guide across the two sessions

Compliance Mechanisms including Assessment & Inspections to Achieve Energy Efficiency, Thermal Comfort and Condensation

The adoption of NCC 2019 has seen substantial changes to Vol. 1 energy efficiency provisions. In preparation for the full adoption of the NCC in 2020, AIBS have developed this regional training session to enable building surveying practitioners to be fully aware of the new requirements in their assessments. This session will focus on and provide assistance when navigating through the provisions of Part of 3.12 of Vol. 2 of the Building Code of Australia and what you as a Building Surveyor, will need to know to when approving residential buildings and importantly what to lookout for when conducting inspections on site to ensure compliance.

Session 1 includes a Structural System approach and External Wall Cladding options with Cavity Components such as insulation, sarking and wall wraps.

Session 2 then moves to Internal Linings, Ceilings and Soffits.

This training event has been specifically designed to assist rural and regional building surveyors looking to update and refresh their knowledge on the new provisions incorporated into Volumes 1 & 2 of the BCA 2019.

It is suitable for those new to the industry, experienced practitioners and design professionals.
