Why Join AIBS?

AIBS is an organisation with a genuine concern in promoting a healthy and safe built environment and actively lobbies government for changes in legislation or procedures that represents Building Surveyors and the community. Members of AIBS are encouraged to participate in AIBS submissions to government reviews to relevant legislation and other changes to the industry. Being a subscribing AIBS member enables us to continue this work representing the interests of the profession of Building Surveying both at a state, national, and international level, with both the National Board and the Chapter Committees working to ensure the ongoing viability, development and professionalism of the profession for the future.

Members have the opportunity to contribute to specialist committees such as Technical or Education Committees, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the Building Surveying profession through election to Chapter Committees. There are also chances to represent the profession on government committees or working parties.

With well over two thousand members AIBS provides you with a network of peers and professional colleagues, and when qualified, designatory letters such as MAIBS can be used to denote your membership of this network. In addition members can use the AIBS logo in their business stationary, website and in emails, and are issued with a membership certificate given under the Common Seal of the Institute which can be displayed with pride.

For our members AIBS offers a range of services. AIBS is committed to increasing the level of professionalism of the membership and in support of this provide a range of training, conferences and general education programs that AIBS members can attend at discounted rates. Topics are related to the built environment thus maintaining your Continuing Professional Development, and CPD Annual Returns are processed free of charge for members. In addition, AIBS members are entitled to a discount on their Accreditation Annual Fees.
