External Wall Systems in Focus
Over recent years there have been prominent examples of façade failures in many countries as well as increasing numbers of reported issues in the Australian market.
AIBS has been monitoring these developments and knowing there are a large number of distinct external wall systems that are available for use in the Australian market, and with increasing globalisation of the Australian market, we expect we will see yet more systems available for use via importation and local innovation.
Already, external wall systems available in Australia are quite unique in their approach to compliance and the compliance points of each of these can often be critical to the safety of building occupants or the integrity of buildings. There is now more than ever a distinct need for Building Surveyors to have a comprehensive understanding of the relevant compliance pathways which facilitate the use of all products and systems in external walls.
In order to meet this need, AIBS has developed a technical seminar dealing with the compliance pathways relevant to construction of external walls.
This seminar is to be delivered as part of a series presented in partnership with various product manufacturers providing members tailored access to the very latest information and introduction to valuable local contacts where they may be able to seek expert technical assistance available in the field and during assessment of novel applications.
Initially, the series will be delivered as joint seminars where the AIBS developed NCC BCA provisions component is presented in conjunction with a supplier seminar. This will then be followed by a range of supplier only seminars so that over the year, members can access the very latest information available across the external wall system product market.
Jeremy Turner, the AIBS Technical Manager, will present the first session in this program, allowing those in attendance a valuable opportunity to meet and familiarise themselves with him and his role in supporting AIBS members.
