Sunshine Coast - Dampness, Weather, Fire and Compliance

Brisbane - Dampness, Weather, Fire and Compliance
Sunshine Coast | 6 CPD Points

About this Event

The way we live is changing rapidly in response to a range of pressures and accommodation needs. The challenge of housing affordability for consumers is a significant issue. Developers, builders, suppliers and regulators are all responding to consumer demands to adapt, and provide a range of building solutions that help address the affordability problem together with a range of other outcomes including improved energy efficiency for our homes.  This involves transforming the way Australian homes are built to deliver space conscious, affordable, desirable, comfortable and safe homes.

AIBS have partnered with James Hardie to bring to you a comprehensive seminar series on managing risk and compliance in the transformation of the Australian way to build. This first series is focussed on separating and external walls.

This seminar will provide delegates with an in-depth presentation on key technical and legislative requirements which will ensure the transformation of Australian housing stock is undertaken in and well managed manner, and reduces the potential for unintended consequences.

Delegates will be presented with the latest information related to fire separation between Class 1 dwellings, ensuring that the dampness, weatherproofing, acoustic performance and fire resistance requirements of environmentally friendly and lightweight forms of construction are well understood. The workshop will cover the separating function of both internal and external walls, with a practical focus on near-boundary and on-boundary (zero lot) walls.

The session will conclude with a detailed look at real world examples of the implementation of compliant work and the consequences of a lack of compliance and delegates will have an opportunity to raise questions with the expert presenters on the topic.

The seminar series will be suited to Building Surveyors involved in assessment or inspectorial activities, building supervisors, contractors and those involved in the design process.

Jeremy Turner, the AIBS Technical Manager, will present this session in this program, allowing those in attendance a valuable opportunity to meet and familiarise themselves with his role in supporting AIBS members
